What is a Bokashi?
The Bokashi Bucket transforms kitchen waste into a nutrient rich soil conditioner.
Using the Effective Micro-Organism (EM) the Bokashi creates ideal conditions for anaerobic composting bacteria.
Manufacturers say that you can compost almost every kitchen food waste in your Bokashi Bucket - fruit and vegetables, prepared foods, meat, dairy and even tissues.
Once full just bury the contents of the bucket and the manufacturers say it will compost in the soil (not in the bucket). Bokashi Buckets can be purchased online or at retail outlets.
Climate Change Crusade
July 22, 2009 by Caro · Leave a Comment
Committed climate-change sceptic Gary Warden became a climate-change advocate after reading a Time magazine heading, “Be Worried, Be Very Worried.”
In April 2006 Warden, a senior geologist with BHP Billiton read the article explaining the latest scientific evidence and what was being done about it.
Warden said that before the article he felt that people were being alarmist, “and being pushed by feral greenies.” But overnight he “got educated” and changed his life: quitting his job, selling his Perth house, moving to the hills, reducing his environmental footprint, becoming a climate advocate and running for the Senate in 2007 for the Climate Change Coalition.
Although still supportive of BHP and the need for resources mining, he said he could not see a role there for himself where he would have been able to do enough to help the climate.

Pure Potential: Sarah Tapscott’s Story
July 13, 2009 by Caro · Leave a Comment
Hi my name is Sarah Tapscott,
My life has been an interesting one to say the least. I am only 38 but I have lived a few lives in this short time.
Growing up I was very rebellious and I left home when I was 16. I wanted to live life on the wild side. So I moved around staying at friends houses and living on the street. I quickly succumb to the drug scene and years of addiction followed. I changed almost over night.
The day I left home changed me forever. I broke my parent’s heart & I lost myself along the way.
Neptune Return - Reminder of Things Long Forgotten
July 12, 2009 by Caro · Leave a Comment
Who is Neptune?
The planet Neptune is sitting at 25 degrees in the constellation of Aquarius - the same place as when it was first discovered in 1846. When a planet completes its journey through all the constellations and returns to the same place, in Astrological terms, this is known as a Return.
Neptune being one of the outer planets of our solar system travels slowly -from our perspective anyway - it’s taken him 263 yrs to complete his journey. Neptune is 30 times further from the Sun than Earth.
Neptune rules the Zodiac sign Pisces - so it’s not surprising that at the time of his discovery both ether/anaesthetic and photography appeared. Also, significant contributions from both Darwin and Marx.
Neptune particularly influences fashion and music. So whatever constellations Neptune is visiting will influence both of these considerably. It’s easy to track fashion cycles - just look at the sign Neptune was in at the time. Music, like fashion, is also influenced by this giant mass.
Biochar Smart Way to Reduce Carbon Emissions
July 9, 2009 by Caro · Leave a Comment
Biochar is the new smart environmental answer to reducing carbon emissions according to Richmond New South Wales Landcare group secretary Tony Walker.
“Biochar is a very complicated product,” Walker said. “It depends what you make it from - it reacts differently.”
What is biochar?
It can be made from waste ranging from chicken litter to woodchips, manure or green waste and it had different effects in different soils. In Richmond they used chicken litter which worked well in the volcanic soils in that area.
According to scientist Dr Lukas Van Zwieten who’s working at the Wollongonbar Agricultural Research Institute, says that biochar can assist with sequestering carbon that would otherwise be released as carbon dioxide.

Biodynamic Agriculture and Dr Manfred Klett
Dr Manfred Klett talks about the Principles of Biodynamic Agriculture
“The old world rejected the Mother of the World, but the New World begins to perceive Her lustrous veil.” [Agni Yoga, verse 55]:
Dr Manfred Klett is passionate about soil. Sounds a little mundane? Only when you remain the “onlooker to nature” says Dr Klett, 76. Looked at from a biodynamic perspective, we can become aware of the sacredness of this microscopic world and begin to realize why its secrets have kept Dr Klett intrigued and inspired for more than 50 years.
“When I was 20 I went with a group of farmers to Syria to experiment with growing cotton using overhead irrigation in a semi-arid climate. I looked around me at the ancient landscape, now so barren, yet hiding a once thriving ancient civilization. I knew my task was to go back to Germany and experiment with biodynamic principles to help prevent the European landscapes from following the same destiny,” vowed Dr Klett.
