Bicarbonate of Soda is a naturally occurring substance made from sodium carbonate and sodium bicarbonate.
Sodium bicarbonate is a white crystalline solid with a slightly alkaline taste. It’s often found in mineral springs and in its natural form it’s called nahcolite.
Bicarbonate of Soda can be purchased from any supermarket and is inexpensive. Store the box in a cool, dry place like the pantry or a cupboard.
White Distilled Vinegar

- To clean ceramic tiles mix 500 ml of vinegar in a bucket of water and wipe over the tiles. No rinsing needed.
- Remove tea and coffee stains from china by soaking in equal parts vinegar and boiling water
- Spray vinegar onto chrome, buff with a soft cloth and watch it shine
- Use vinegar to disinfect cutting boards (you can also use a lemon if no vinegar available)
- Soak clouded drinking/wine glasses in warm, equal parts, vinegar and water. Leave for 15 – 30 minutes then scrub out and rinse. Read more
