White Distilled Vinegar

Around The Home

  • To clean ceramic tiles mix 500 ml of vinegar in a bucket of water and wipe over the tiles. No rinsing needed.
  • Remove tea and coffee stains from china by soaking in equal parts vinegar and boiling water
  • Spray vinegar onto chrome, buff with a soft cloth and watch it shine
  • Use vinegar to disinfect cutting boards (you can also use a lemon if no vinegar available)
  • Soak clouded drinking/wine glasses in warm, equal parts, vinegar and water. Leave for 15 – 30 minutes then scrub out and rinse.
  • Remove lime scale from your kettle by adding 100 mls of vinegar to a full kettle of water and let it stand overnight. Rinse in the morning.
  • Leave a bowl of undiluted vinegar in your kitchen to absorb cooking smells.
  • Wipe over your fridge with undiluted vinegar inside and out to remove bacteria and odours
  • Spray stainless steel with undiluted vinegar and wipe with a soft cloth
  • Clean tea pots with equal parts boiling vinegar and water. Leave for 5 minutes and then rinse.

Health and Beauty

  • Dab insect bites with a cotton ball saturated with undiluted vinegar to stop them itching
  • Soothe sunburn with a spray of vinegar
  • Use vinegar as an antiseptic on cuts and scrapes
  • Soak smelly feet in undiluted vinegar for 10 minutes
  • Vinegar is a great toner. Use equal parts vinegar and water
  • Clean hairbrushes by soaking in vinegar
  • Use vinegar instead of commercial after shaves
  • Lighten body freckles by rubbing them with full strength vinegar (can also use lemon juice)
  • Wipe fingernails with cotton balls dipped in vinegar before putting on nail polish. It makes the polish last longer.

    Distilled vinegar is just white vinegar, available at supermarkets. Hope that helps.
